Signs of life in Kenosha/Racine

[mood |anxiousanxious]

I've recently moved to Kenosha and would like to find more things to do in the area as well as people to go to clubs/shows in Milwaukee with. If I had to describe myself I'd say I was a mix of goth/hippie/nerdy/ and a 4 year old going on 31. I work as a vet tech which I adore, but I just can't find much to do with my free time and I'd love to meet new people in the area.

Where did you move from? Kenosha is nice because it is close to both Chicago and Milwaukee. There is also some cute little museums in Kenosha.

My husband and I moved here from Chicago, but before that I lived in New Orleans. I've been to some of the museums and galleries here, but I'm used to a pretty active social life and I miss that a lot.

I don't go to clubs, so unfortunately I don't have any to recommend. They do have good bands at the Brat Stop, which is sort of a combination of a restaurant, bar, club, and (obviously) bratwurst/souvenir shop. The food there is excellent. I go there more to eat than to socialize. Be sure to pick up a package of garlic brats while you're there. *g*

If you're somewhat athletic, you could try joining Jazzercise or take classes at the YMCA or RecPlex.

Also, UW-Parkside has fun mini-courses like Dessert Wines (a chef actually bakes and presents desserts to pair up with dessert wines), Appetizer Wines, Aromatherapy Gifts, Cook a Harry Potter Dinner, Jazz Dance, even things like Casino Gaming and Healing Secrets of Native Americans. That's a great way to meet people who have the same interests you do. You should also look into the "lighter" classes offered by Gateway Technical College. I've taken several fun classes there.
